Implicit in any truly successful act of production is our own belief in what we’ve produced—that it’s of genuine value to someone else. Whether physical product or intangible service, that both others and we see its worth.
Of course, what we produce can still be good without this positive self-appraisal. But for our productive act to be a complete success, we ourselves should judge it to be good, too.
Because to believe that “What I did is valuable” is part of believing that “I am valuable.”
